Dr. Syed N Kabir is an eminent Reproductive Biologist. Before joining Repromed Diagnostic Private Limited, Dr. Kabir served CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology under the aegis of Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India as a Chief Scientist. His domain of research encompasses broad areas of female infertility and contraception. He has made a significant contribution to the understanding of the basic tenets of endometriosis, premature ovarian failure, and metabolic aspects of polycystic ovary syndrome. He was also instrumental in developing and optimizing the stimulation protocols for assisted reproductive techniques in the Institute of Reproductive Medicine, Kolkata. His contribution in this direction earned him the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology award in Reproductive Endocrinology in 2007. Dr. Kabir served as Chairman of the Consortium Advisory Committee of ICAR and Member of the Domain Expert Group of CSIR and ICMR engaged in implementing and monitoring different research proposals on Reproductive Health in India.
Prof. Siddhartha Roy Ph.D. from the University of Delaware, directed CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (2004-2014) and founded NIPER-Kolkata in 2007. He served as Visiting Scientist at NIH, USA, and Visiting Professor at Osaka University, Japan. Prof. Roy’s research in gene regulation and drug discovery earned him accolades like the Bhatnagar Prize and Fellowships from prestigious science academies. He received Meritorious Service Awards from the US Department of Health and Human Services and held editorial roles in journals like Molecular Pharmacology.
Dr. Kunal Ray earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Bose Institute, Kolkata, India. He then conducted research at the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell University in the USA before returning to India in 1998 to join CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB). There, he led the Human Genetics division, focusing on Ocular and Neurological diseases. Dr. Ray played a key role in a nationwide project to identify medically relevant gene variations across India’s populations. With nearly 200 research publications, he retired as Chief Scientist from IICB in 2012 and later contributed to developing Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). Currently, he serves as a Director at ATGC Diagnostics Pvt Ltd., Kolkata.
Prof. Nitai Bhattacharyya After completing his PhD in Physics at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), Calcutta, India, in 1986, Prof. Nitai Bhattacharyya pursued post-doctoral research in the USA. He worked at the Carcinogenesis Laboratory, Michigan State University, Imperial Cancer Research Fund (London), and University of Utah, Salt Lake City. Returning to India in 1994, he joined SINP and retired as a Senior Professor in 2016. Prof. Bhattacharyya directed the BioMedical Genomics Centre at PG Polyclinics, SSKM Hospital, Kolkata. His work focuses on neurological diseases like Myotonic dystrophy, Huntington’s disease, and Spinocerebellar ataxia subtypes. Currently, he collaborates on mitochondrial diseases research at the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research.
